Fashion photography - Leeds, Manchester and London

I scouted for locations for this fashion photography shoot, looking for something that was plain but interesting in texture. On a relatively sunny day I found quite a few places but fell upon a lovely location - a communal outside space with raised beds full of palms and against the flats in the background with the sun shining, it almost had a California look to it (well sort of). The next day came working with Lucy and a firm idea of look and mood. I got her working the look perfectly, she’s a great newbie on the scene but sure she will do well. However sadly for us, this day was cold and rain came down within the first hour… so off to shoot inside from a window, making the most of our time together.

As a Yorkshire fashion photographer my aim is always to strive for excellence. To create striking, visual narratives, bringing a freshness to fashion photography and editorial photography. I continually learn, every day as a photographer looking for new ways to work with the model and create drama from a pose. The pose can and should deliver style, making the garments look their best but my desire is to push much further and create emotive fashion photography.

I am as adept in creating fashion photography in a studio environment or on location. In the studio the devil is in the detail as to where the lights are carefully placed, even to within millimetres. From dramatic contrasty fashion photos to more emotive experimental work. I seek inspiration from everywhere, from instagramers to the painting masters like Rembrandt.
Out and about I can create powerful portraits in any location, whether photographing someone in the street or laid down in a meadow field in spring. I just love to create beautiful photography. The process to make beautiful photography begins with well thought out concepts and moodboards. From that I'm able to know what photography equipment is needed and how to get the most from the model. You can have a little fun too of course in the process but knowing what you want to achieve before your models/hair and makeup guys/clients arrive makes the process run smoothly. In the future my aim is to shoot more fashion photography with analogue film. There is just something special about that as a medium. One it slows the process down but the way the photography looks in post is something very different. In fashion photography you have to be current, creating something new and the mix of mediums is exciting and purposeful. How I work with the models on a fashion shoot is vital. I'd like to thank my approach is gentle but focused and each person and client I work with from the word go know exactly what they get from me. List of types of fashion photography I create:

  • advertising fashion photography

  • lookbooks

  • beauty editorial

  • alternative fashion

  • street fashion

  • catalogue

  • high fashion photography

  • editorial

The next fashion photography project to me is the most exciting one. I’m centrally placed as a fashion photographer in Yorkshire but also work in Manchester and London. I look forward to every new assignment with vigour.
